Up at 7….. final packing……taxi to airport…..Odessa’s family saw us off……8 hours to Frankfurt. Over Hudson bay…..Greenland…..Iceland…north of Scotland…just by Norway and into Germany. The airport was very helpful with transportation between gates …..About 3.5 km…..an other hour or so to Vienna. Did not meet up with Wolfgang…… we were both there but somehow missed each other.
We had no problem getting the rental car…we thought we would get a VW but got a Mercedes instead.

Before we left we invested in a high-end GPS at Frank’s advice. I programmed it with many of the point of interest and destinations such as villages, churches and archives before we left.
As we left the airport it rained for the first time in 3 weeks, our luck! We turned on the GPS…….and nothing……no satellite acquisition….so we just started driving direction Brno. It was very frustrating and we were just about to stop to consult a map when it started to talk to us. I had it set for the shortest rout, not the fastest, It took us through the countryside on small lanes and tiny towns, turning continuously. Non of these were on the map. We were convinced it was leading us astray when we came to a major road which leads us directly to Pavlov, out first destination.
We had no trouble finding out hotel and they were expecting us. So far everyone has spoken English. At this time it was 1 pm and we have been without sleep for 26 hours. We had a fast rest an hour or so and got back into our car to check out the country side……fantastic.....pictures to follow…….we had a prearranged dinner at the hotel and to bed by 8pm for a long jet lag reducing sleep.
No need for alarm clocks here the roosters are very loud.
